✅ How to flag/map a metric?

This guide explains how to create and configure a metric in Qobra, so that a value calculated in one or more commission plans becomes available in your reports.

Written by Support Qobra

⚠️ Flagging metrics is a prerequisite for building any Statement Report or Record Report. ⚠️

The need

Each commission plan calculates its own information: an attainment rate, a commission amount, an accelerator. By default, this data stays locked inside its original plan. With several commission plans, you end up with as many isolated calculations, which cannot be compared or consolidated directly in reporting.

A metric solves this problem: it is an indicator created once in Qobra and associated with one or more commission plans. It retrieves a value already calculated in a plan and makes it available in your reports.

The two types of metrics

Statement Metric

Record Metric

Feeds

The Statement Report

The Record Report

Data level

The sales rep (commission statement)

The deal / the record

Source in the plan

Variables calculated in step 2 (compensation)

Calculated fields of the scope, in step 1

Example

% of target attainment

Commission rate applied to an opportunity

⚠️ A Record Metric is attached to a specific data table (e.g. Opportunity). It can only be flagged with calculated fields from scopes that use this same table.

Create and flag a Statement Metric

In the Reporting tab:

  1. Click Manage metrics

  2. Click + New metric

  3. Name your metric (e.g. "SDR attainment rate")

  4. Select the value type (e.g. Percentage)

  5. Choose the Statement type

  6. Click Create

The metric now exists in Qobra, but it is empty. You now need to tell it which values in the commission statements correspond to it:

  1. Click Flag from a plan

  2. Select the relevant plan

  3. Move to the right preview date

  4. Select the corresponding variable in this plan (e.g. attainment rate)

  5. Repeat for each additional plan using the same population

☝️ Note: if your plan contains several compensations with different payment frequencies, adjust the preview date to display the right variable (e.g. end of year for an annual commission).

Why flag the same metric on several plans?

It is common for a single team to be split across several plans for organizational reasons, for example one plan for SDRs and a separate plan for Team Leads, with a different calculation logic.

However, this split has no value from a reporting standpoint: what you want to see is the performance of the whole team, not a fragmented report that has to be cross-referenced manually.

👉 Example:

By flagging the same metric on the SDR plan and the Team Lead plan, you get a consolidated report that lets you compare a Team Lead's performance with that of their own SDRs, or position them against the whole team.

☝️ Note: this assumes that the flagged variable represents the same concept in both plans (same scale, same definition), even if the underlying calculation logic differs.

Create and flag a Record Metric

  1. Click + New metric

  2. Name your metric (e.g. "Acceleration rate")

  3. Select the value type (e.g. Percentage)

  4. Choose the Record type

  5. Attach the metric to a data table (e.g. Opportunity)

  6. Click Create

⚠️ The data table determines everything: the metric can only be flagged with calculated fields from scopes whose source is this same table.

Unlike the Statement Metric, the value of a Record Metric sits at the deal level, not the sales rep level: it corresponds to a calculated field in the scope (step 1 of the plan), not to an aggregated variable of the statement.

  1. Click Flag from a plan

  2. Select the relevant plan

  3. Select the corresponding calculated field in the scope (e.g. "Accelerator")

  4. Repeat for each additional plan concerned

Once flagged, the metric is available in the Record Report, with one line per deal, for each of the plans concerned.
